Surgery
About the service
At AVC we have experienced doctors and fully trained nursing staff to perform various elective, non-elective and emergency surgeries.
Generally, we would recommend that your pets get a pre-surgical check-up where the doctor would examine the general overall health of the pet and give you an estimated cost of the procedure.
We highly recommend pre-anaesthetic blood work before surgery to rule out the risk factor and ensure that the pet is safe enough to undergo surgery. Pre-anesthesia blood work is compulsory for senior and high-risk patients.
During surgery, our technicians and nurses monitor important vitals like heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and digital ECG.
The most common surgeries performed at AVC are-
- Spay, neuter
- c-sections and pyometra
- Dental scaling and extraction
- Exploratory laparotomy
- Skin laceration and abscess drainage
- Amputation, Endoscopy, Rhinoplasty
- Bladder stones and urethral blockage
- Splenectomy
- Eye surgery
- Tumour and lump removal
Post-surgical care-
For the routine procedures, most of the pets can go home a few hours after waking up from anaesthesia for other advanced procedures, hospitalisation becomes necessary in order to monitor vital signs and deliver critical care Post anaesthetic medication includes pain management and antibiotics and follow up after surgery.
